Is the Forrest Gump 2 sequel trailer real or fake?

The Forrest Gump 2 trailer is fan-made and fake.

A few days ago, a YouTube channel named KH Studio dropped a Forrest Gump 2 trailer, which has garnered over 300,000 views so far. The channel is renowned for creating concept trailers for the audience’s entertainment purposes. Therefore, the trailer isn’t real and is a reimagining work.

Check out the fan-made trailer here:

Impressively, the trailer does set up a great storyline for a sequel, starring Timothée Chalamet as the son of Hanks’ Gump. The video begins with Chalamet standing in front of Jenny’s grave who died at the end of the first installment due to an incurable disease. Moreover, it features Gump’s son’s seeking a purpose in life and the duo’s special bond. It is to be noted that the video is a compilation of Hanks and Chalamet’s previous movies, enhanced with visual and sound effects, as well as voiceovers.

Is Tom Hanks returning for Forrest Gump 2?

No, Tom Hanks is not returning for a Forrest Gump sequel as it is not in the works.

In 2022, Josh Horowitz welcomed Hanks on his Happy Sad Confused podcast. During the podcast, Hanks discussed the possibility of a sequel to Forrest Gump. He mentioned that the second installment was discussed only for 40 minutes and never came to fruition.

Moreover, he said, “A smart thing I did is I’ve never signed a contract that had a contractual obligation to a sequel. I’ve always said, ‘Guys, if there’s a reason to do it, let’s do it. But you guys can’t force me.'” (via The Independent)

Alluding to the first installment’s success, Hanks knew that people would expect him to make a sequel simply because the predecessor was a hit. Nevertheless, for now, his return stands a low chance as a sequel is not currently in the works.
