Is Too Hot to Handle Season 6 scripted or real?

How much of Too Hot to Handle is staged?
The show’s authenticity has become a source of debate, with no definitive confirmation on whether the show is scripted. While the show may not be particularly scripted, a Season 1 cast member has said the creative team does “nudge” people in the right direction in order to get the end goal.
In a 2020 interview with Cosmopolitan, Harry Jowsey, a season one cast member, addressed some viewer skepticism regarding the show’s authenticity. Jowsey admitted that producers sometimes intervene during filming to possibly generate content that aligns with the audience’s expectations.
He explained, “In these situations, if they know that you’ve got a problem or you need to have a chat with someone, they’ll just point you in the right direction to get a result or to get that conversation happening and get to the end goal. They’re not forcing you to say or do anything you don’t want to. They just kind of help nudge you in the correct direction.”
However, in a 2022 interview with Express, Desiree Burch, the narrator of Too Hot to Handle, shed light on the show’s authenticity. She said, “Well, obviously I’m a voice actor, so my stuff is scripted for sure. I don’t have very much say although I will add in bits as we go.”
She further clarified that the show itself is not scripted. Burch explained, “What I understand of the process, they’re never like, ‘Go over to that person and go do that thing.’ It’s more like, ‘This is what’s happening, so we’re going to focus in on that.’ Then there’s the story of what actually emerges.”
Too Hot to Handle Season 6 dropped on July 19, 2024, on Netflix.
