The much-awaited movie Deadpool & Wolverine is nearing its release date and has already generated excitement among fans. Apart from the enticing team-up between Hugh Jackman’s claw-bearing superhero and Ryan Reynolds’ merc with a mouth, the extensive leaks from the movie’s filming locations have also contributed to its growing popularity. In a recent interview, Kevin Feige also admitted that the leaked set photos involving Deadpool and Wolverine have somehow worked in favor of the MCU’s upcoming installment.
Kevin Feige believes Deadpool & Wolverine’s set leaks were worth it
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige believes that the set leaks were a good trade-off as filming in practical locations was “very important” to them and it was worth the risk.
While talking to Variety, Feige disclosed that it was imperative for the team to shoot scenes in the outside world. He also acknowledged the additional bargains associated with the approach, as evidenced by the leaked set photos featuring Deadpool and Wolverine in their iconic costumes.
“We didn’t want this to be a green screen box for all of the locations. We want it to be out in the real world, and that always comes with potential tradeoffs,” he said. Despite also shooting in several secure locations, people with drones still managed to get a sneak peek into the filming process.
Feige, who is used to working in a green-screen environment, admitted that it was a new experience for him “to have paparazzi drones flying over set.” Addressing the leaks, the longtime Marvel executive credited the viewers for being aware enough to know that leaked images do not reflect what the final scene would look like.
“I think people are savvy enough over the years to know that’s not what it will look like in the movie. That being said, Wolverine in that yellow outfit looks cool from any angle,” he stated.
The craze for Deadpool & Wolverine, the 34th entry in the MCU, is at an all-time high. It is scheduled to hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
