Godzilla Minus One is finally getting a 4K Blu-ray release in the United States.
Godzilla Minus One was released in United States theaters in December 2023. The beloved Toho Studios film, directed and written by Takashi Yamazaki, made approximately $115.8 million at the global box office off an estimated $10-12 million budget. It won the award for Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards.
When is Godzilla Minus One’s 4K Blu-ray release?
On the official Godzilla website, via Bloody Disgusting, Godzilla Minus One is now getting a 4K Blu-ray release that has a September 2024 estimated shipping date. The four-disc box set was previously released in Japan on May 1, 2024. The cost of the four-disc Godzilla Minus One set is $65.
The set also includes Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color, which is the black-and-white version of the film, along with a number of other special features that can be viewed by clicking here.
“Post war Japan is at its lowest point when a new crisis emerges in the form of a giant monster, baptized in the horrific power of the atomic bomb,” reads the official synopsis of the film.
The movie stars Ryunosuke Kamiki as Kōichi Shikishima, Minami Hamabe as Noriko Ōishi, Yuki Yamada as Shirō Mizushima, Munetaka Aoki as Sōsaku Tachibana, Hidetaka Yoshioka as Kenji Noda, and Sakura Ando as Sumiko Ōta.
The screenplay was written by Yamazaki, who previously made 2005’s Always: Sunset on Third Street, 2010’s Space Battleship Yamato, 2013’s The Eternal Zero, 2014’s Stand by Me Doraemon, 2019’s Dragon Quest: Your Story, and 2019’s Lupin III: The First, among other movies, prior to Godzilla Minus One. The film was produced by Minami Ichikawa, Shūji Abe, Kenji Yamada, Kazuaki Kishida, Gō Abe, and Keiichirō Moriya.
