WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes recently discussed his rumored match with The Rock. At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes achieved the unthinkable by defeating Roman Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Title, ending Reigns’ record-breaking title reign of 1317 days.
On WWE Raw after WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes was discussing his historic victory over Roman Reigns when The Rock interrupted him. The Great One congratulated Cody Rhodes for his impressive win despite the odds and mentioned that Dusty Rhodes, Cody’s father, would have been proud.
After praising Rhodes, The Rock created an awkward moment by expressing his desire to hold the WWE Championship. They then agreed to swap titles, as The Rock held the title he had never held.
Following this awkward interaction, The Rock announced that he would be taking some time away from WWE to shoot a movie. However, he issued a warning to The American Nightmare that when he returns, he’ll be coming after him. Recently, Cody Rhodes discussed when fans can expect his potential matchup with The Final Boss.
Cody Rhodes says The Rock match could take place next year
WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes recently appeared on The Pivot Podcast, where he discussed various topics such as winning the WWE title, his father, Dusty Rhodes, his potential heel turn, and his desire to rewatch the WrestleMania match with Roman Reigns. Rhodes also mentioned that he is hopeful that his match with The Rock could take place next year.
He stated, “The Rock told me he’d see me when he comes back. My head has been on a swivel everyday since the day after WrestleMania, for the Final Boss, as the Rock goes by now, for when his music hits. I’ll be in the same spot I was and I’ll be ready for him. If he comes in any bit like he did for WrestleMania, he’ll be doing the whole ‘oh I finally got off, I’ve been so busy’, dude was on like a three month training camp, he was dialed in, so I will be dialed in myself. If I could give you a guess, I feel like, I hope it happens in the next year.”
While The Rock is currently busy shooting his next movie, ‘The Smashing Machine,’ Cody Rhodes finds himself in a feud with the new Bloodline, led by Solo Sikoa. It will be interesting to see if this leads to The Final Boss making his return and confronting the WWE Undisputed Champion.
