Hunter Schafer has been tapped to star in Amazon Prime Video’s Blade Runner 2099 series with Michelle Yeoh.
Per Deadline, Schafer will play an undisclosed role in the new Blade Runner series. She’ll join Yeoh, who, according to Variety, is playing a character named Olwen, “described as a replicant near the end of her life.”
Schafer is best known for playing Jules Vaughn in HBO’s Euphoria. She’s also starred in 2022’s Belle and 2023’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, while she’ll soon be seen in Neon’s Cuckoo (releasing August 2, 2024) and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Kinds of Kindness (releasing June 21, 2024).
She’s also attached to play a role in David Lowery’s Mother Mary, which co-stars Michaela Coel, Anne Hathaway, and FKA Twigs.

Plot details for Blade Runner 2099 are being kept under wraps at this time. Production officially began in the spring.
Silka Luisa serves as the showrunner and executive produces the series alongside Ridley Scott, Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Ben Roberts, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Tom Spezialy, Richard Sharkey, Michael Green, Cynthia Yorkin, Frank Giustra, Isa Dick Hackett, and Jonathan van Tulleken, the latter of whom is also directing the first two episodes.
“The original Blade Runner, directed by Ridley Scott, is considered one of the greatest and most influential science-fiction movies of all time, and we’re excited to introduce Blade Runner 2099 to our global Prime Video customers,” Amazon boss Vernon Sanders said in a statement when the project received an official series order. “We are honored to be able to present this continuation of the Blade Runner franchise, and are confident that by teaming up with Ridley, Alcon Entertainment, Scott Free Productions, and the remarkably talented Silka Luisa, Blade Runner 2099 will uphold the intellect, themes, and spirit of its film predecessors.”
Blade Runner 2099 does not yet have a premiere date from Prime Video.
