Emma Roberts has been tapped to lead an upcoming showbiz thriller, Fourth Wall, from Servant director Alexis Ostrander. Serving as the director’s feature debut, Ostrander is directing the movie based on a screenplay written by Jerry Kontogiorgis.
Fourth Wall serves as Roberts’ second project with Stampede Ventures following her previous commitment to Space Cadet, an upcoming romantic comedy set to hit Prime Video on July 4.
What is Fourth Wall about?
Roberts, who has worked as an actress at an early age, will fittingly star in Fourth Wall as a former child star from a hit ‘90s television show. The movie will then see Roberts’ character, who has been kidnapped, waking up one day in a location meant to replicate the show’s set, where she is joined by the rest of her co-stars.
“The thriller centers on a former child star from a popular 90’s television show who is kidnapped and wakes up in a complete recreation of the show’s set with the rest of the cast. As she’s forced to re-immerse herself in the iconic role she’s been trying to get away from her entire career — she must recreate the series’ most memorable moments to stay alive,” the synopsis reads.
Stampede Ventures’ Greg Silverman will produce the film, with Jon Berg, Gideon Yu, Chris Bosco, Mike Tadross, Grant Torre, Rodney Ascher, Lee Stobby, and Kontogiorgis serving as executive producers.
“From the moment I read Jerry’s script, I knew we’d have an instantly iconic film on our hands that speaks to our popular culture in such a unique, entertaining way. With all of her experience, Emma is the dream to lead this film that explores fame and the cost of growing up in front of the camera,” said Torre, Stampede VP of Film, in a statement.
Roberts, whom fans may remember as the fan-favorite American Horror Story alum, is no stranger to the horror-thriller genre. She has starred as Jill in Scream 4, Vee in the techno-thriller Nerve, and Yoga Pants in the satirical action horror The Hunt.
Apart from her iconic portrayal of Chanel Oberlin in the slasher comedy Scream Queens, the actress has been an American Horror Story mainstay, having starred as Madison Montgomery in AHS: Coven and AHS: Apocalypse, Maggie Esmerelda in AHS: Freak Show, and Brooke Thompson in AHS: 1984. She also appeared as a guest star in AHS: Cult, playing the role of Serena Belinda.
Most recently, Roberts starred as Anna Victoria Alcott opposite Kim Kardashian’s Siobhan Corbyn in AHS: Delicate.
