Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s ex-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn, who murdered her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, is still in prison with no release date. He is currently serving a life sentence for fatally stabbing Dee Dee on June 15, 2015, in the Blanchard family home. Gypsy, who was also involved in planning the murder, served nearly eight years of the term. She received early release on December 28, 2023.

Over the years, multiple documentaries and shows have depicted the case of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Nicholas Godejohn. HBO’s acclaimed documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest, alongside Hulu’s drama series The Act, chronicle the events that occurred in Gypsy’s life. After her release from prison, the former inmate has appeared in two Lifetime documentaries. The latest one, Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up, observes her present life.

Where is Gypsy Rose’s ex-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn now?

According to the Missouri Department of Corrections, Nicholas Godejohn is serving his prison sentence in the Potosi Correctional Center with no release date. Harper’s Bazaar reported that in 2018, Nicholas stood trial in Dee Dee Blanchard’s murder case. The trial ended in a first-degree murder conviction. He was also convicted on a second count of armed criminal action. The conviction landed him a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole.

Meanwhile, Gypsy Rose Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2016 after striking a plea deal with prosecutors. Gypsy also agreed to testify at Nicholas Godejohn’s trial when she detailed their plan to murder Dee Dee. She revealed that Godejohn had traveled to Missouri to commit the crime. He then waited for Gypsy’s message to go over to their house. The latter admitted to giving her then-boyfriend gloves, duct tape, and the knife he used to murder Dee Dee.

Gypsy Rose received a 10-year sentence as part of the plea deal and also because of the abuse she suffered at the hands of Dee Dee. The latter had convinced Gypsy that she was a terminally ill teenager with the mind of a seven-year-old. This abuse had impacted her emotionally, physically, and mentally. Gypsy is a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a disorder Dee Dee suffered from. The former inmate married Ryan Scott Anderson in 2022 while still serving her sentence and received early release on December 28, 2023.

Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up, a four-part documentary series on Lifetime, airs a new episode every Monday.
