Gypsy Rose Blanchard announced separation from her husband Ryan Scott Anderson in March 2024, months after prison release. Lifetime’s documentary series Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up chronicles the former convict’s present life since her prison release. The four-part series premiered on June 3 and airs a new episode every Monday. The second episode premieres on June 10 at 9 p.m. ET.

Reportedly, Gypsy Rose served nearly eight years in prison for her role in her mother Dee Dee Blanchard’s 2015 murder. Her ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, who stabbed Dee Dee to death, continues to serve a life sentence in prison. While serving her sentence in Missouri’s Chillicothe Correctional Center, Gypsy married Ryan Scott Anderson in 2022. The duo remained together until after Gypsy’s prison release on December 28, 2023. Three months later, they announced their split.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard filed for divorce from her now-estranged husband, Ryan Anderson, in April 2024. They are currently in the midst of divorce proceedings. The former couple has openly talked about their split in separate interviews. Moreover, they continue to disclose details about their divorce in Lifetime’s new documentary series Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up.

Why did Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her estranged husband Ryan Scott Anderson Divorce?

In Touch reported that an insider revealed the cause of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her now-estranged husband Ryan Anderson’s divorce. The source told the outlet, “They both realized they’d made a mistake getting married. It was too much too soon” and “was too much of a struggle in the real world.” The source claimed that Gypsy Rose and Anderson “didn’t really know each other well enough and she’d rather be single.”

Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Anderon’s split is included in Lifetime’s documentary Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up. The former couple appeared in the first episode of the four-part series. The documentary series will also chronicle Gypsy Rose’s relationship with her new boyfriend, Ken Urker, who is also her ex-fiancé.

According to US Weekly, Ryan Scott Anderson offered insight into his marriage to Gypsy Rose. He admitted that marrying Gypsy “wasn’t easy” and claimed to have taken her father’s “approval.” In footage shot before their divorce, Anderson stated, “Right now, I just want this to work. Everybody’s giving us a 50-50 shot but, you know, I feel it’s 100 percent.”

The first episode showed Anderson arriving at the Chillicothe Correctional Center to pick up Gypsy after her release. After that, the former couple had spent the night in a hotel where they “got to consummate our marriage,” reported People Magazine. The next morning, they headed home to Gypsy’s family.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is now with her new boyfriend, Ken Urker, after separating from her husband, Ryan Scott Anderon. She told US Weekly in an exclusive interview that her new boyfriend is not the reason behind her and Anderson’s divorce. Gypsy added, “It was, I think, an insecurity that was there for a very long time.”

Reportedly, Gypsy Rose revealed that “Ken has consistently been brought up in a way that I can never let go of my feelings.” However, at the time of her marriage, she “put them on the back burner to do what was best for my marriage. And so, having that be a point of contention has been a thread throughout, but I didn’t leave Ryan for Ken. That was just sort of a realization [of], ‘Hey, we still love each other after the fact.'”

Additionally, Gypsy Rose Blanchard filed for a restraining order (based on finances) against her now estranged husband. Gypsy claimed to have communicated with Ryan Scott Anderson “sparingly since I filed [for divorce]. She also wishes “him the very best,” revealing that they have “chosen to not communicate anymore.” The 32-year-old believes “it’s probably best for our healing at this point.”

Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up episode 2 will air on June 10, 2024, at 9:00 p.m. ET on Lifetime. The episode will re-air on the network at 11 p.m. ET the same night.
