Sacramento Movie: Vertical Nabs Rights to All-Star Road Trip Comedy From Michael Angarano

Following its world premiere at this weekend’s Tribeca Film Festival, Michael Angarano‘s star-studded Sacramento movie has found its theatrical distributor.

Per Deadline, Vertical has officially acquired the North American theatrical distribution rights to Angarano’s upcoming road trip comedy. In addition, Vertical will also be handling the film’s distribution in the UK and Ireland. It is currently slated to make its debut sometime this year.

“Sacramento was a movie-making experience that was truly one of a kind,” Angarano said in a statement. “Each and every crew member believed in the movie we were making and had fun while doing it, which is all you could ever hope for as a filmmaker. It’s also a very personal film for me which is why I’m grateful to have a home like Vertical.”

What is the Sacramento movie about?

“The film tells the story of Rickey, an energetic and free-spirited young man with a Peter Pan complex who, following the death of his father, convinces his long-time friend Glenn to hit pause on his blissful domestic life and embark on an impromptu road trip across California,” reads the synopsis.

Sacramento is directed and producing by Sky High vet Michael Angarano from a screenplay he co-wrote with Chris Smith. Angarano is also leading the cast as Rickey, along with Oscar nominee Kristen Stewart as Rosie, Emmy nominee Maya Erskine as Tallie, and SAG nominee Michael Cera as Glenn. They will be joined by AJ Mendez (Blade Of The 47 Ronin), Iman Karram (Daft State), and Rosalind Chao (Mulan). It is produced by Angarano, Smith, and Sam Grey, along with Oakhurst Entertainment and Lighthouse Management & Media.
