Ahead of the release of Ti West’s MaXXXine next month, a sneak peek of the movie will be shown after a one-night-only theatrical rerelease of West’s first film in the trilogy X.
IndieWire exclusively revealed that X would return to theaters on June 18, 2024, thanks to A24 and will be accompanied by a post-credits preview of MaXXXine.
MaXXXine wraps up Ti West’s horror trilogy in 80s Los Angeles
X is the first in Ti West’s Mia Goth-fronted genre trilogy. It sees Goth’s Maxine as part of a group looking to surreptitiously shoot porn on the farmland of an elderly couple. However, things get murderous, and Maxine survives a massacre.
MaxXxine takes place in 1985 with Mia Goth reprising her role of Maxine Minx from X. It picks up six years after the farmstead massacre of X. Maxine is now residing in LA and still striving to become a star in the acting world. But her chances are hampered by the fact people keep dying around her.
In between these films was Pearl. The prequel movie focused on the murder-happy old woman of X in her youth (also played by Goth).
MaxXxine also stars musician Halsey, horror stalwart Kevin Bacon, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang’s Michelle Monaghan, and Lilly Collins (Okja). It also stars Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Bobby Cannavale, and Giancarlo Esposito.
MaXXXine is in theaters on July 5, 2024.
