WondLa Trailer: Apple TV+ Series Is Based on Book Trilogy

The trailer for WondLa reveals the upcoming Apple TV+ animated series, which is based on the New York Times bestselling book trilogy The Search for WondLa by Tony DiTerlizzi.

The story centers on Eva, who is described in the official synopsis as a curious and enthusiastic teenager. Voiced by Jeanine Mason of Rosewell: New Mexico, Eva is raised in an underground bunker by Muthr, a robot caretaker, voiced by Emmy Award nominee Teri Hatcher.

What is WondLa about, and who else is in the cast?

On her 16th birthday, Eva’s bunker faces an attack. This forces her into the Earth’s surface, though that now includes roaming aliens and otherworldly fauna. With no humans to be found, it’s no longer called Earth. It’s referred to, instead, as Orbona. Eva ultimately makes friends with Otto, a giant waterbear voiced by Emmy winner Brad Garrett, and Rovender, a grumpy alien voiced by Gary Anthony Williams. They join forces with Eva as she leads a dangerous mission to find humans, her home, and unlock her true destiny.

The cast of characters also includes Chiké Okonkwo (The Birth of a Nation, La Brea) as Besteel, the greatest hunter in all of Orbona, D.C. Douglas (Sharknado 2: The Second One, Black Ops) as Omnipod, Dynastes Corporation’s sentient hand-held device, issued to every human at the age of six, and Emmy Award nominee Alan Tudyk (Resident Alien) as Cadmus Pryde, founder of Dynastes Corporation.

WondLa hails from Skydance Animation, with Bobs Gannaway as showrunner. The project is executive produced by DiTerlizzi and Gannaway alongside Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, Julie Kane-Ritsch, and Skydance Animation’s John Lasseter, David Ellison, and Dana Goldberg. Tony Cosanella also produces the series.

WondLa joins a growing slate of Apple TV+ family programming, including Lovely Little Farm, Duck & Goose, Get Rolling With Otis, Sago Mini Friends, Pinecone & Pony, Frog and Toad, The Jim Henson Company’s Emmy Award-winning Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, Harriet the Spy, Wolfboy, and more.
