Get ready to face off against the Xenomorphs, as developer Survios has revealed a new Alien: Rogue Incursion trailer for its upcoming horror game. This is the first look we’ve had of the VR title set in the iconic Alien universe, which blends scares with some tasty action.
Set to arrive this year
The Alien: Rogue Incursion trailer itself is only short, but it gives us a glimpse of what awaits us. While it can’t help but have a similar vibe to the acclaimed Alien: Isolation – which dropped in 2014 – it seems clear that Alien: Rogue Incursion is going more for high-octane gameplay than just survival horror.
As for when we’re likely to see the game, there’s no official release date yet. However, the trailer – along with a statement in a recent press release – says we can expect it sometime this year, with it aiming for the holiday period. For now, you can wishlist it on the PlayStation Store.
It should be noted that this is a VR game so a headset will be required. Rogue Incursion will be compatible with the PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 3, and PCVR for Steam. There’s no indication of whether a non-VR version of the game will be on the horizon.
It’s described as a “single-player, action-horror game featuring an all-new storyline of an ultimate mission that tests players’ courage, wits, and skill to survive the terrors of the Perfect Organism.” It’s being made in Unreal Engine 5.
Alien: Rogue Incursion is being helmed by the virtual reality studio Survios, whose other works include: The Walking Dead: Onslaught, Westworld: Awakening, and Creed: Rise to Glory.
While adaptations of the Alien franchise often have a bit of a low reputation, there have been some shining examples in the past that have set the bar high. The aforementioned Isolation is just one example, as is the classic first-person shooter Alien vs. Predator. Let’s hope Survios’ VR offering can stack among some of the better games out there.
