The Bill Skarsgård-led action comedy Boy Kills World is heading to Digital at home on Tuesday, May 28, following its release in theaters on April 26.
Boy Kills World, directed by Moritz Mohr, is now available for pre-order through Amazon. Starring Skarsgård as Boy, the film — billed as “a one-of-a-kind action spectacle set in a dystopian fever dream reality” — is a vengeance-ridden feature, following a deaf person on his quest to avenge his murdered family.
While the Roadside Attractions film boasts an ensemble cast, it sadly performed poorly at the box office. Recent reports revealed that the movie only earned $1.6 million domestically, though the film’s budget has not been revealed as of yet. The film also received a mixed critical reception.
The number is considerably low, given the earnings of the film’s box office competitors. However, Boy Kills World may receive a new lease on life once it becomes available digitally on May 28.
“In the film, Skarsgård stars as Boy, a deaf-mute with a vivid imagination, driven by his inner voice, one which he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game, avows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy, the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deafened, and voiceless,” the synopsis reads.
Who stars in Boy Kills World?
In addition to Skarsgård, the film also stars Jessica Rothe as June 27, Andrew Koji as Basho, Michelle Dockery as Melanie Van Der Koy, Brett Gelman as Gideon Van Der Koy, Famke Janssen as Hilda Van Der Koy, Isaiah Mustafa as Benny, Sharlto Copley as Glen Van Der Koy, and Yayan Ruhian as the Shaman.
Mohr directed the feature from a screenplay written by Arend Remmers and Tyler Burton Smith. It is produced by Sam Raimi, Zainab Azizi, Roy Lee, Wayne Fitzjohn, Simon Swart, Alex Lebovici, Stuart Manashil, and Dan Kagan.
