One Piece Devil Fruit: What Is Mane Mane No Mi?

Since the start of One Piece, Devil Fruits have played a pivotal role in determining a character’s strength. However, most of these fruits are situational and shine best in their predetermined atmosphere. This is one of the reasons why One Piece mangaka Eiichiro Oda received the number of plaudits he had, due to his amazing thought process and design when drafting Devil Fruits. Among the numerous devil fruits in the world of One Piece, the Mane Mane no mi is undoubtedly one of the craftiest fruits in the series.

What are the abilities of Mane Mane No Mi?

The Mane Mane no Mi is a paramecia-type devil fruit that allows users to transform themselves into anyone they touch. The fruit previously belonged to Kurozumi Higurashi but was made famous by former Baroque Works agent Mr. 2. The fruit can copy anyone it wants with a single touch. It also allows its user to retain the form of anyone it has copied before.

While the fruit lacks offensive capabilities, this doppelganger effect can topple kingdoms and organizations. Mr. 2 used this to full effect on Arabasta, turning the entire kingdom away from the royal family. Although the ability may seem more beneficial than most, it isn’t without limitations. The Mane Mane no mi can’t replicate anyone without touching them.

The fruit transforms you into an exact copy of anyone you touch. It can’t copy skills and mannerisms, making the user’s acting skills very important. The disguise can be removed by harming the user. However, it is also possible to trick them into undoing the transformation by making them touch their face with their left hand. Bon Clay showed that strength wasn’t everything, as he could topple the whole kingdom of Arabasta with just a few words.
