According to Deadline, Focus Features has officially landed the North American theatrical rights to the upcoming suspense-filled rescue drama titled Last Breath, which follows a deep sea diver.
The film will be led by Woody Harrelson (True Detective), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), and Finn Cole (Peaky Blinders). In addition to the U.S., the Focus Features had also nabbed the rights to select international territories. At the moment, the release date for the project has yet to be announced.
What to expect from Last Breath?
Described as an “heart-pounding” exhilarating true story, the film follows “a seasoned deep sea diver as he battles against the raging elements to execute his final rescue mission.” It tells “a gripping tale of teamwork that takes audiences on a race against time,” reads the initial synopsis
The Last Breath will be directed by Alex Parkinson and Richard da Costa, from a screenplay Parkinson he co-wrote with Mitchelle LaFortune and David Brooks based on the 2019 documentary of the same name. It produced by Brooks, Paul Brooks, Stewart Le Maréchal, Al Morrow, Anna Mohr-Pietsch, Jeremy Plager, Hal Sadoff, and Norman Golightly.
Besides the upcoming movie, Harrison will also next be seen in Apple’s Fly Me to the Moon with Channing Tatum and the comedy film Ella McCay with Ayo Edebiri and Jamie Lee Curtis. He will also be reprising his role as mentalist Merritt McKinney in the highly-anticipated Now You See Me 3. Meanwhile, Liu will star opposite Jennifer Lopez in Netflix’s newest action sci-fi Atlas. He is also expected to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Shang-chi 2, which is still in development.
