Director Hansal Mehta teases Scam’s third series Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga
Hansal Mehta took to social media to unveil a short teaser for the upcoming series. He posted, “Sc3m is back! Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga, coming soon on @sonylivindia #Scam2010OnSonyLIV #Scam2010.” Although the teaser revealed the title and subject of the series, it left fans eager for more details, particularly the cast, which remains undisclosed. The director confirmed his return at the helm, ensuring continuity and a familiar touch to the new series.
SonyLIV, in collaboration with Applause Entertainment and Sony’s Studio Next, has commissioned the new series. The streaming platform, which previously saw great success with the first two installments, is banking on this latest story to replicate the same level of success. According to Sony LIV, Scam 2010 will chronicle “the dust-to-diamonds story of maverick businessman Subrata Roy,” based on Tamal Bandyopadhyay’s book Sahara: The Untold Story.
Subrata Roy, a once-celebrated businessman, founded the Sahara group, which grew into a massive conglomerate with interests spanning various sectors. However, his empire began to crumble amid allegations of investor fraud. In the early 2000s, Roy faced accusations of chit-fund manipulations and involvement with fake investors. These charges culminated in his arrest in 2014, leading to a high-profile trial. Roy passed away in 2023 at 75, leaving behind a legacy of controversy.
Hence, as Hansal Mehta aptly puts it, “Scam is not just a franchise for me. It is a chronicling of our times. I’m thrilled to collaborate again with Applause and SonyLIV to bring this larger-than-life story alive.” Stay tuned for more updates!
