SM Entertainment’s girl group Aespa is set to the release of its new album, Armageddon. The K-pop supergroup shared the tracklist and a highlight medley to give a sneak peek of the songs.
Aespa‘s Armageddon era started with SM Entertainment revealing multiple music videos of the tracks before the album’s official release. So far, fans have seen the futuristic Aespa world in “Supernova,” “Licorice” and “Longchat” MVs. In the new album, Aespa is back as they fight monsters in vintage superhero costumes or sci-fi attires that suit the group’s theme.
Aespa’s Armageddon tracklist reveals ten new songs including ‘Long Chat’ & ‘Licorice’
Aespa will release their new album Armageddon on May 27, 2024, at 6 p.m. KST, 5 a.m. ET, 2 a.m. PT, and 10 a.m. BST. The album’s title track, “Armageddon MV”, will be shared simultaneously. The tracklist includes:
- “Supernova”
- “Armageddon”
- “Set The Tone”
- “Mine”
- “Licorice”
- “BAHAMA”
- “Long Chat (#♥)”
- “Prologue”
- “Live My Life”
- “목소리” (Melody)
As per the album’s highlight medley, Armageddon will have tracks in mixed genres, including EDM, R&B, Hip-Hop, and pop. In true Aespa style, the album starts with high-energy EDM tunes like “Supernova,” but “Bahama” and “Live My Life” take the sweet pop route, highlighting the group’s versatility.
Before Armageddon’s release, fans were invested in finding the meaning of the new album. Armageddon refers to the site or time of the ultimate battle between good and evil. Hence, the album’s title can signify Aespa’s final fight against evil and the quest to restore peace between Kwangya and the real world. Reports claim Armageddon will depict the season 2 story of Aespa’s worldview, which expands into the multiverse beyond the real and digital worlds.
However, unlike their debut single, “Black Mamba,” Aespa has taken a somewhat playful approach to fighting “demons.” In the song “Licorice,” the K-pop group fights a monster who becomes a source of mint-chocolate treats for them.
