Solo Leveling’s Producer Reveals Details About Season 2 in a Recent Interview

The highly anticipated Solo Leveling Season 2 was confirmed shortly after the first season concluded, sparking excitement among fans. The anime adaptation of this beloved manhwa was announced at the Anime Expo 2022. Shunsuke Nakashige at Studio A-1 Pictures supervised the series. Noboru Kimura wrote the script, and Hiroyuki Sawano composed the music.

Recently, the producer Sota Furuhashi was interviewed by Crunchyroll. He opened up about some interesting insights into the upcoming season. Check out the interview down below:

What did the producer say about Solo Leveling season 2?

In the pilot episode of After Hours on the Aniplex YouTube Channel, voice actor Sally Amaki spoke with Sota Furuhashi, the producer of Solo Leveling. He promised the upcoming season would expand on the side characters and world-building.

He was asked about the changes in Solo Leveling Season 2, to which Furuhashi replied, “In Season 1, it focuses a lot on the main character’s development, and, of course, that continues in Season 2. But this time, we’ll also turn the spotlight on the supporting characters and fill in the story a bit more as we wrap things up. So, you’ll get a more 360-degree look at the world of Solo Leveling in Season 2.”

The series was trending throughout the Winter of 2024 and was highly acclaimed in the community. However, audiences pointed out that the anime lacks humor compared to the manhwa. A few lighthearted scenes here and there set it apart from other shows in the genre. Albeit Solo Leveling revolves around a serious and dark theme, sprinkles of light humor will be favorable.

Even in the source material, the series lacked fleshed-out side characters. The anime tried to improve on this aspect with noticeable criticism from the viewers. The series director wanted to change this and gave Cha Haein more screen time to show her personality. Furuhashi previously said this was necessary to convey the manhwa’s quality through the vastly different anime medium.
