Per The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed that the release date for Prime Video’s upcoming The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 has been delayed to 2025. The hit show is expected to return with eleven new episodes.
This comes after nearly a year since the coming-of-age romance drama had debuted its 8-episode second season. The Season 3 release date delay is most likely the result of last year’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which affected the show’s initial scheduled production date. The cast and crew of The Summer I Turned Pretty are now currently filming the next installment, with author and showrunner Jenny Han set to make her directorial debut.
Who’s involved in The Summer I Turned Pretty?
The Summer I Turned Pretty is executive produced by showrunners Han and Sarah Kucserka, based on Han’s bestselling novel series. The adaptation stars Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Rain Spencer, David Iacono, Jackie Chung, and Rachel Blanchard. Season 2 ended with Belly ultimately choosing to be with Jeremiah, despite Conrad admitting that he still has feelings for her. The next installment will most likely continue the complicated love triangle between the childhood best friends.
The series is executive produced by Karen Rosenfelt, Gabrielle Stanton, Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Paul Lee. It is a co-production of Amazon Studios and wiip. According to Amazon, Season 2 was one of Prime Video’s 10 most-watched seasons of any series.
