People walking into the theaters wondering whether there’s a Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes end credits scene will find the answer here. Does it set up a sequel with a post-credits sequence? Here’s all you need to know.
Is there a Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes mid-credits or post-credits scene?
There is no end credits scene in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. While many modern-day franchise movies follow the norm of adding additional scenes at the end, Wes Ball’s latest Planet of the Apes outing does no such thing.
Post-credits scenes in movies are a long-running practice used to set up sequels or add extra gags for fans. The MCU made it a fan-favorite tradition by regularly adding mid and post-credits scenes. But Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes simply sets up the franchise’s future through its narrative and ending.
The movie offers plenty to unravel in its 145-minute-long runtime. It takes place roughly 300 years after War for the Planet of the Apes and begins a new story featuring Freya Allen, William H. Macy, Owen Teague, Dichen Lachman, and Peter Macon, among others.
The official synopsis of the movie reads:
“Several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, apes are now the dominant species and live harmoniously while humans have been reduced to living in the shadows.”
The synopsis continues:
“As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.”
