Bad Boys 5 Teased By Martin Lawrence: ‘I’m Going to Carry On’

While Bad Boys: Ride or Die has yet to hit theaters, the possibility of Bad Boys 5 is already being discussed. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence returned in Bad Boys for Life 17 years after its predecessor and will be reprising their roles in a fourth installment.

Fans likely haven’t seen the last of the duo yet, as Lawrence wishes to return for more. However, there’s a catch.

Martin Lawrence discusses new Bad Boys 5 movie

Bad Boys: Ride or Die’s co-lead Martin Lawrence was asked whether he’d like to be back for more Bad Boys movies. He confirmed that he would return, but only if he gets to star in potential future installments with Will Smith.

In his interview with Empire Magazine, the actor showed his willingness to “carry on” and said:

“I’m going to carry on as long as my brother carries on. It’ll be very hard to get rid of me.”

While Sony hasn’t revealed any definitive plans for Bad Boys 5, Lawrence’s readiness to continue playing Marcus Burnett is a positive sign for fans of the franchise.

Will Sony release Bad Boys: Ride or Die sequel?

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is Will Smith’s first big-budget outing since his incident involving Chris Rock at the Oscars. He starred in 2022’s Emancipation, but Ride or Die puts a different exposure on the actor with a wide theatrical release.

While Bad Boys is a fan-favorite franchise, the latest installment follows Smith’s slap mishap. Whether that affects the film’s box office potential remains to be seen.

Ideally, Sony would be inclined to continue with Bad Boys 5 if Ride or Die performs well at the box office. Bad Boys for Life reached a respectable $426 million global total on a $90 million production budget in 2020. Things would be promising for the franchise’s future if Ride or Die were to produce similar results.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die hits theaters on June 7, 2024.
