Kim Go-Eun is a South Korean actress known for showcasing her acting skills in popular TV dramas and movies. She recently won hearts with a terrific performance in the 2024 horror-mystery film, Exhuma.
For the movie, Kim Go-Eun received the Baeksang Arts Awards 2024 in the Best Actress (Film) category. Previously, she bagged the award for Best New Actress (Television) in 2016. Since her debut in 2012 with the movie Eungyo (aka The Muse), she has appeared in several K-dramas and movies that became instant hit in the country.

Exhuma
Exhuma is a 2014 movie, starring Kim Go-Eun, Lee Do-Hyun, Choi Min-Shik, and Yoo Hae-Jin. The storyline revolves around shamans Hwarim and Bong-Gil feeling a dark energy around a newborn and a wealthy family. She brings in geomancer Sang-Deok and mortician Young-Geun in the case. Initially, they take an interest in the family because of money but soon realize that they are dealing with two spirits.
After getting rid of one spirit, Sang-Deok’s curiosity put the lives of all four in danger. They face the spirit of a Japanese samurai who killed 10,000 men to become a divine entity. Whether the team of shamans and geomancer can fight the deadly samurai is the crux of the story. The movie is yet to be released on the streaming platforms.
Goblin (Guardian: The Lonely and Great God)
Goblin or Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016) is another masterpiece, starring Go-Eun, Gong Yoo, Lee Dong-Woo, and Yoo In-Na. It tells the story of a 900-year-old goblin looking for his human bride so that she can pull out the sword and end life peacefully. Meanwhile, a grim reaper on the hunt for the goblin bride appears to be a lost soul. Despite their motives, the lead characters form a close bond.
The fantasy romance K-drama is available on Netflix and other streaming platforms. Its official synopsis reads, “In his quest for a bride to break his immortal curse, a 939-year-old guardian of souls meets a grim reaper and a sprightly student with a tragic past.” Along with the series, Goblin’s OST Stay With Me also became popular.
Little Women
Little Women is a 2022 K-drama about three sisters and their fight against a wealthy family. The synopsis reads, “Three sisters, who only have each other and never enough money, get entangled in a conspiracy involving the rich and powerful.”
Kim Go-Eun plays the eldest sister Oh In-Joo, the protector of the family. Spending her childhood in poverty, she dreams of living like normal people. However, an incident turns her life upside down. Nam Ji-Hyun plays the second sister Oh In-Kyung, a reporter with ethics and principles. Despite her poor financial background, she doesn’t want to kneel for money. When an old case returns to her life, she decides to find the truth. Park Ji-Hu plays the youngest sister Oh In-Hye, who enrolls in an art school for her talent. The sisters get entangled in a huge case involving the country’s wealthiest family. The K-drama also stars Wi Ha-Joon as Choi Do-Il. It is available on Netflix.
The King: Eternal Monarch
The King: Eternal Monarch is a 2020 K-drama, featuring Lee Min-Ho and Go-Eun in lead roles. In the series, Lee Gon is the third Korean emperor of his generation, admired by his people. While he is the perfect leader, his childhood was traumatic. His uncle killed his father in front of his eyes, and hence he couldn’t get over the incident to date.
One day, he discovers a door that takes him to a parallel world where his city is known as Seoul. Lee Gon meets Inspector Jeong Tae-Eul, who initially doesn’t believe his truth. Later, she visits Lee Gon in his world and realizes how the problems of both worlds are similar. The couple join forces to punish the criminals and write their fate.
The K-drama also stars Woo Do-Hwan, Lee Jung-Jin, Kim Kyung-Nam, and Jung Eun-Chae in the main roles. It is available to stream on Netflix.
Tune in for Love
Set in the 1990s, Tune in for Love is a 2019 romantic melodrama movie, featuring Go-Eun as Mi-Soo and Jung Hae-In as Hyun-Woo. Available on Netflix, the synopsis reads, “A student and a reticent teen first meet at a bakery in the 1990s and try to find each other through the years, as fate keeps pulling them apart.”
Mi-Soo and Hyun-Woo first meet at her bakery shop, and they slowly become closer because of their love for a radio show. After a few years, fate brings them together again while they share stories on a radio program. Hyun-Woo and Mi-Soo fall in love but bad timing always comes in between.
