Is Dhruv Vikram’s Bison Based on a True Story?

After appearing in Mahaan, actor Dhruv Vikram is all set to return to theaters with his upcoming film, Bison. Makers have recently announced the film, sparking numerous speculations, with some believing it to be based on a biopic. However, the film’s director recently addressed these rumors.

Directed by Mari Selvaraj, the film’s first look has received a positive response from netizens eagerly awaiting its release. The upcoming movie will feature a cast including Anupama Parameswaran, Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, Pasupathy, Kalaiyarasan, Hari Krishnan, and others.

Notably, Mari changed crew for Bison’s filming and welcomed Nivas K Prasanna as the music composer. When Mari Selvaraj was asked about this change, he stated, “The script demanded fresh treatment, which is why I wanted to go with a completely new team.” Additionally, Mari Selvaraj highlighted that Bison marks his first collaboration with cinematographer Ezhil Arasu K and editor Sakthikumar.

Bison is a fictional film, not a biopic?

Earlier reports suggested that Bison would feature a biopic of the life of a Tamil Nadu Kabaddi player, Manathi Ganesan. Last year, director Mari confirmed this, stating, “He is an Arjuna Awardee and a very close relative. I always wanted to feature his story.”

However, director Mari debunked biopic rumors in recent discussions with the Times of India. He stated, “This film will revolve around kabaddi, but contrary to reports, it is not a biopic. But a fictional one. We will shoot a 60-day schedule in Tirunelveli, then move to Chennai for the remaining portions.” Thus, the director confirmed that Dhruv Vikram’s upcoming film will not depict the life of any sports player but rather offer a fictional narrative.

Aside from this project, Dhruv Vikram was last seen in the film Mahaan, where he starred alongside his father, Chiyaan Vikram. The action thriller flick was directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced under the Seven Screen Studio banners.

The film’s release date announcement is still awaited as the makers have just begun shooting. Stay tuned for more updates related to Bison.
