The ongoing period C-drama Tender Light, featuring Zhang Xincheng and Tong Yao in the lead roles, aired episode 22 on May 7, 2024. The episode primarily focuses on flashbacks of how Xu Yi tormented Nan Ya (Tong Yao) when he was alive. After releasing Nan Ya, the police take Zhou Lou (Zhang Xincheng) into custody. Fang Lu closely examines Nan Ya’s confession, in which she denies Zhou Lou’s involvement in the case. She urges Fang Lu not to speculate on her affair with Zhou Lou and make up a romantic story. She also insists that Zhou Lou has not been in love with her.
Flashbacks take viewers to the night of the train station incident and Nan Ya’s public humiliation. After coming back from the swim session with Zhou Lou, Nan Ya mentions that she doesn’t want to die as it is an easy way out. Zhou Lou follows her to her home. Nan Ya urges him not to visit her anymore and closes the door on his face.
The next morning, Nan Ya visits a lawyer’s office with proof of her being beaten by Xu Yi. She wishes to file for divorce and gain custody of her daughter. She is heartbroken to learn that she might not get custody as adultery is involved. Xu Yi comes to see her at her boutique. He showers her with expensive gifts and tries to apologize to her. After Nan Ya gives him the divorce papers, he threatens to sue her and storms out.

At night, after everyone goes to sleep, Zhou Lou visits Nan Ya’s house. He climbs up the wall and sneaks inside her house. After Nan Ya catches him in the act, she asks him to leave her alone. Zhou Lou confesses that he will die if he stops meeting her. Nan Ya asks him if he is desperate to sleep with her. Annoyed by her reaction, Zhou Lou leaves her house.
The next day, Nan Ya creates a ruckus at Xu Yi’s company meeting. She announces how Xu Yi has been abusing her for years and is not ready to divorce her. Xu Yi drags her out of the restaurant. On her way back, Nan Ya runs into Zhou Lou once again. As he confronts her about being distant at times, she harshly declares that his love means nothing to her.
Nan Ya’s daughter, Wanwan, disappears from in front of her house. It appears that Xu Yi has hidden her somewhere to get back at Nan Ya. She has no faith in him and worries Xu Yi might hurt her daughter. Zhou Lou, along with his friends and family members, helps her search for the kid around the town, but she is nowhere to be found.
Nan Ya receives a call from Xu Yi, and he threatens to send Wanwan away from her. He has decided to keep Wanwan with him after Nan Ya divorces him. He is not ready to come to a mutual agreement and threatens that he won’t let Nan Ya see her daughter again.
