WWE Superstar AJ Styles, who is one of the top wrestling superstars in the world, recently opened up about his retirement plans. Styles headlined WWE Backlash with Cody Rhodes in France for the WWE Undisputed Championship this past weekend. He also received a great reception from the fans in France.
Styles, a 46-year-old veteran, has had a journey from TNA to NJPW to WWE, having a decorated wrestling career. During a recent appearance on the “SHAK Wrestling” podcast, Styles talked about his retirement plans and how to spend with family.
He stated, “There’s definitely a finish line somewhere in the future. Listen, I enjoy this, I really do, it’s just I don’t want to get to a point where I said this before you’re going, ‘Ugh, man, maybe it’s time for him to get out?’ I don’t want to get to that point. I’m trying to use mine sparingly and, you know, positively and everything at the right time. Not as easy as you think because as a heel you’ve got to make sure everybody looks good.”
He continued, “I have a nine-year-old, and she gets heartbroken when I’m gone for too long.” However, he noted that his older sons understand his sacrifice. “The sacrifices that I’ve made early in my life are the reason why I’m going to get to spend more time with them here in the future.”
Styles may have had retirement plans on his mind. However, he received huge praise for his recent match against Cody Rhodes at WWE Backlash.
AJ Styles talks about his discussions with Will Ospreay regarding joining WWE
Will Ospreay recently disclosed in an interview that WWE Superstar AJ Styles is trying to sway him to join WWE. AJ Styles, who has previously wrestled Will Ospreay, has shared his thoughts on the matter.
In an interview with Irish Wrestling & Entertainment’s Mark O’Brien, he discussed discussing with Will Ospreay the possibility of joining him in WWE.
He stated, “Well, it’s hard to keep my eye on what I’ve got to be focused on. What I’m focused on right now would be WWE. I’m focused on what’s going on with my own family, so it’s hard to focus on what’s going on outside of that, but yeah, of course, why would I not want some of the best talent in the world to come to WWE? I mean, I think they’re great guys. Listen, if he were a douchebag, I probably would have called on him to, you know, see if he wants to come here, see if we can agree with him. But I think he’s a great talent, and there’s a lot of them out there. It’s only a matter of time before we get to them.”
While Styles may have tried to convince Ospreay to join WWE, ultimately, Will Ospreay decided to go with AEW.
