Cody Rhodes, who defeated Roman Reigns to win the WWE Undisputed Championship, is set to defend his title this weekend. This marks Cody Rhodes’s first title defense on WWE programming. Rhodes will be facing AJ Styles this Saturday at WWE Backlash in France. While Rhodes has a significant challenge ahead. He is looking forward to facing another opponent for his title.
Cody Rhodes, who recently joined a Twitter Spaces Call, expressed his anticipation of facing Gunther. Rhodes mentioned that he and Gunther are destined to clash in the future. He stated, “So I’ll go ahead and say that Gunther is just out in the ether, and I think he and I are probably destined to clash at some point. That’s something I look forward to because here’s why, and this is maybe a little inside baseball. Gunther is somebody that is really popular with the most hardcore wrestling fan.”
Fans of WWE also caught a glimpse of Cody Rhodes and Gunther facing off twice in the Royal Rumble in 2023 and this year. Rhodes had the upper hand on the Ring General both times by eliminating him.

He expressed that he and Rhodes are destined to be enemies. Gunther expects a singles match with Rhodes next year.
While it remains to be seen if this rivalry materializes, the Ring General is transitioning from a successful Intercontinental Championship reign, with Gunther now competing in the King of the Ring tournament. He could transition into WWE’s main event scene following the tournament.
