Global Cyber University has made headlines in the last few years for boasting a star-studded list of alumni, including several BTS members.
Balancing a thriving K-pop career and furthering education isn’t easy for idols. So, the most convenient choice for K-pop stars in recent times has been opting for an online or cyber university, which allows them flexibility.
BTS stars have reportedly attended two cyber universities, including Hanyang Cyber University and Global Cyber University.
BTS V, Jungkook & Jimin Snagged President’s Award From Global Cyber University
In addition to breaking K-pop records and paving a new path for future generations of Korean stars, BTS members have received multiple degrees from various universities. According to the official website of Global Cyber University, three BTS members received the honorary President’s Award while graduating from the school.
BTS Jungkook graduated from Global Cyber University in March 2022 with the highest honor, the President’s Award, for his degree in broadcasting and entertainment. He could not attend the ceremony in person but delivered a video speech for fans.
The 26-year-old “3D” crooners gushed over the fun of learning, saying: “People say graduation is both an ending and a beginning, and it makes me excited and emotional at the same time… I feel that learning is always a fun thing to do and unique and exciting. I hope we won’t miss the moment but will go toward our goal.”
Before Jungkook, BTS V and Jimin also attended Global Cyber University, pursuing bachelor’s degrees in Entertainment & Media. The BTS icons graduated in 2020 and snagged the President’s Award in 2021.
Jimin and V could not attend the ceremony in person, so their adviser, Professor Cheon Beom Joo, received the award. Global Cyber University claims that Suga, RM, and J-hope had also previously enrolled in the Entertainment & Media course.
Meanwhile, BTS members RM, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, and V enrolled in Hanyang Cyber University’s MBA program in 2020. BigHit Music released a statement regarding the members’ education in July 2020, noting, “RM, Suga, and J-Hope enrolled in Hanyang Cyber University’s graduate school for an MBA in Advertising & Media in March last year, and they are currently attending school.”
The statement also added that Jimin and V will enter Hanyang Cyber University’s graduate school for an MBA in Advertising & Media in September 2020.
