Pulse Cast: Happy Death Day Star & More Join Netflix’s First Medical Drama

According to Deadline, Happy Death Day star Jessica Rothe has been tapped for a recurring role in Netflix’s first original medical drama Pulse. This marks Rothe’s first TV project in long while, following her appearance in 2020’s short-lived sci-fi drama Utopia.

Besides Rothe, the Pulse cast has also welcomed three more recurring actors to its roster, including Néstor Carbonell (The Morning Show), Santiago Segura (Grey’s Anatomy), Ash Santos (Mayor of Kingstown) and Arturo Del Puerto (Westworld). Listed below are their complete character descriptions:

  • Rothe’s Cass Himmelstein – is a charismatic and charming senior ER nurse who knows what she wants for her life, and has a plan to get it.
  • Carbonell’s Dr. Ruben Soriano – is a respected and sometimes feared senior surgeon. His commitment and passion have led him to prioritize his job above all else and he’s as demanding of his residents as he is of himself.
  • Segura’s Gabriel Moreno – an ER nurse who is a highly competent team player — but not always easy to impress.
  • Santos’ Nia Washington – is a confident and scrappy Miami-Dade County EMT from a large, close-knit family.
  • Del Puerto’s Luis Dominguez – is an ER Charge Nurse. He is unflappable amidst the ER chaos without sacrificing his signature wit and is beloved among his staff.

What is Pulse about?

“While the staff of Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center navigate medical emergencies, young ER doc Dani Simms is unexpectedly promoted to Chief Resident amidst the fallout of her own provocative romantic relationship,” reads the official logline.

Pulse is created and executive produced by Zoe Robyn, who’s also serving as the showrunner alongside Lost’s Carlton Cuse. The series also stars Justina Machado (One Day at a Time), Willa Fitzgerald (The Fall of the House of Usher), Colin Woodell (The Continental), Jack Bannon (Pennyworth), Jessie T. Usher (The Boys), Daniela Nieves (Vampire Academy), Jessy Yates (Law & Order: SVU) and Chelsea Muirhead (Warrior). It is executive produced by Cuse, Kate Dennis, Bradley Gardner, Emma Forman, and Michael Klick, with Dennis directing the first two episodes.
