On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, the Avex YouTube channel released the new trailer of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s upcoming anime adaptation of Look Back. The trailer also revealed the theme song for the highly anticipated film.
Tatsuki Fujimoto, who is the author of the hit series Chainsaw Man, released the popular one-shot manga in 2021 with Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+. The manga exceeded expectations, bagging over 2.5 million views on its release day.
Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Look Back anime: Everything you need to know
Fujimoto’s Look Back will be part of the 2024 summer line-up. The anime film will premiere in Japan on June 28, 2024. Veteran composer Haruka Nakamura and singer Urara will team up to perform the theme “Light Song.”
Not much is known about the cast members, but it will reportedly star Yūmi Kawai and Mizuki Yoshida. The staff members include Kiyokata Oshiyama, who directs the film at his self-owned studio, Studio Durian. The Chainsaw Man mangaka was thrilled to have Oshiyama directing the anime and went on to say, “Director Oshiyama is a monster animator that most anime otakus don’t know about, so as an otaku, I’m looking forward to seeing this work on screen.”
Other than him, Kiyotaka will be responsible for the screenplay and character design. Kiyoshi Sameshima will handle the art direction, while Kiyoshi Hirose will be in charge of editing.
