Anime fighting game Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is on its way to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The Sparking series is known for its large rosters, and the new game seems to be no exception, with over 40 fighters so far. These include the six newly revealed characters.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero confirms Future Gohan and more
The latest additions to Sparking! Zero’s roster are Gohan, Future Gohan, Sword Trunks, Beerus, Whis, and Videl. Including all alternate versions, this brings the total number of confirmed playable characters up to 43. Bandai Namco revealed these new characters in screenshots shared with the Japanese manga and gaming magazine V Jump. Dragon Ball YouTuber SLOplays then shared the images on Twitter.
For those who haven’t kept up with the long-running series, Gohan and Trunks are the half-human sons of Goku and Vegeta, respectively. First seen as children, teenaged and adult versions appear in both Dragon Ball Z and Super. Meanwhile, Videl is the daughter of the recurring human character Mr. Satan (aka Hercule) and eventually marries Gohan. Finally, Beerus is the purple, feline god of destruction introduced in Super, while Whis is his blue-skinned attendant.
Interestingly, the Sparking! Zero screenshots appear to show a one-armed version of Future Gohan. The half Saiyan-fighter famously loses his arm fighting Android 17 and Android 18 in Dragon Ball Z: The History of Trunks. However, previous Dragon Ball games typically depict him with both arms intact.
Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Spike Chunsoft announced Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero with a trailer in December 2023. The publisher hasn’t set a release date yet, though fans can wishlist it now through Steam and the PlayStation Store.
