An adaptation of the non-fiction book Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer by James L. Swanson, Manhunt (2024) is a period drama series. Set in 1865, the series revolves around Secretary of War Edwin Stanton as he tracks down the murder of his friend, US President Abraham Lincoln. The first season premiered on Apple TV Plus on March 15, 2024. If you want to know whether there will be a release date for Manhunt (2024) Season 2, then this is what we have learned.
Here’s all we know about Manhunt (2024) Season 2 and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there a Manhunt (2024) Season 2 release date?
There is no Manhunt (2024) Season 2 release date as series creator Monica Beletsky reportedly developed Manhunt as a miniseries or limited series.
Several outlets list Manhunt as a miniseries, so it’s unlikely that it will receive another season. There are plenty of shows that were initially billed as miniseries and went on to become a multi-seasonal project. However, that will probably not be the case with Manhunt. Swanson’s book doesn’t have a sequel and covers a very specific incident and its aftermath in history, leaving not much narrative scope for a sophomore season.
The cast of Manhunt includes Tobias Menzies as Edwin Stanton, Anthony Boyle as John Wilkes Booth, Lovie Simone as Mary Simms, and Brandon Flynn as Edwin Stanton Jr. The cast also features Hamish Linklater as Abraham Lincoln and Lili Taylor as Mary Todd Lincoln
Why Manhunt (2024) Season 2 might not be happening
Manhunt (2024) Season 2 probably isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, the series was created as a miniseries. ComingSoon will provide an update if circumstances change, and Apple greenlights another season of the show.
The official synopsis for Manhunt (2024) reads:
“A conspiracy thriller about one of the best known but least understood crimes in history. This is the astonishing story of the hunt for John Wilkes Booth in the aftermath of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination—as the fate of the country hangs in the balance.”
