A viral video has shown singer Miley Cyrus seemingly introducing Joker: Folie à Deux actor Joaquin Phoenix to co-star Lady Gaga. The clip, originally recorded back in 2010, features Cyrus explaining Gaga to a bemused Phoenix, over a decade before the pair would collaborate as DC villains Joker and Harley Quinn in the upcoming Joker 2.
The video — which has attracted tens of thousands of ‘likes’ on X (formerly Twitter) — sees Miley explaining who Lady Gaga is to Phoenix, who will portray The Joker in Todd Phillips’ sequel. As part of this explanation, Miley sings Gaga’s 2008 hit ‘Bad Romance’ to the actor, who explains: “I don’t know the song.”
Joker 2’s Joaquin Phoenix ‘educated’ about Lady Gaga in viral clip
Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga are now well-acquainted, appearing in the recently released Joker 2 trailer that revealed the musical for the first time. However, it seems that Phoenix didn’t know much about the singer back in 2010, with fans crediting Miley Cyrus for “educating” him about his future co-star.

Lady Gaga’s casting as Harley Quinn took many by surprise, with director Todd Phillips publishing the first photo of the singer-turned-actress in the role last year. However, the debut Joker 2 trailer has received a lot of positive attention, receiving over 13 million views at the time of this writing.
The clip of Miley and Joaquin originates from a video published by To Write Love on Her Arms, a non-profit movement “dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.”
The full video features Miley, Joaquin, and Liv Tyler discussing the movement, with Joaquin and Miley briefly discussing her career before Cyrus explains that she dances like Lady Gaga. This prompts the pair to discuss the future Harley Quinn, with Joaquin seemingly not all too familiar with her music at the time of the video’s recording.
