Dune 2 has emerged as a box office hit and stands out as one of the top films of 2024. However, as excitement grows for Dune 3, concerns are mounting over a rumored delay. Has Dune 3 been delayed by Warner Bros and Legendary?
While Dune 3 has not been officially delayed, as the release date has yet to be announced, the project’s timeline is at least partially tied to the director’s schedule.
During a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Denis offered insights into the third project. He mentioned that he isn’t in a rush to commence work on his intended adaptation of Dune Messiah, Frank Herbert’s 1969 sequel to Dune. He clarified that the timing of the project depends on securing the right screenplay.
Denis Villeneuve also shed light on his upcoming projects. He mentioned that currently, he is working on four projects. One of which is confidential and he cannot discuss presently but believes should materialize swiftly.
He also expressed the notion of engaging in something in between projects before delving into Dune 3. He emphasized that all these projects are still in the writing phase, and he lacks control over them.
In short, while fans of the Dune series need not worry about a delay in Dune 3, the director doesn’t appear to be in a significant rush to begin work on Messiah.
