Disney Plus has finally revealed the release date of the much-awaited K-drama Uncle Samsik. The series is all set to premiere on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, exclusively on the streaming network. The story revolves around passionate idealist Kim San (Byun Yo-Han), who wants to turn the country’s fortunes for the better. He comes across Park Doo-Chil, fondly known as Uncle Samsik (Song Kang-Ho), who joins him in the mission.
Uncle Samsik will see famous movie star Song Kang-Ho’s debut in a drama series. The series is a period drama set in 1960s Korea, a time of active social, economic, and political activity. Amidst high tension, Kim San and Uncle Samsik collaborate to change the country’s future. Veteran Korean writer and filmmaker Shin Yeon-Shick is also making his series debut with this drama. The newly released poster teases Song Kang-Ho’s character as beloved Uncle Samsik, who always has three meals during the day.

Determined to make the mission a success, he meets Uncle Samsik. The duo teams up to accomplish the mission, with Uncle Samsik providing Kim San with all the necessary tools to succeed.
As the two collaborate, they face obstacles from outside forces. Disney Plus also released a trailer where people are fondly and suspiciously looking at Uncle Samsik. In the trailer, the latter loves people calling him Uncle Samsik out of respect. The drama takes viewers on a journey of the two men trying to accomplish their dream during a tumultuous time in the country’s history.
According to Hollywood Reporter’s news report, the drama will premiere with five episodes on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. After that, every week will see two episodes releases of this 16-part series until a three-part finale on June 19, 2024. The drama will air every Wednesday at 4 p.m., streaming exclusively on Disney Plus.
