Episode 12 begins with Guy and Liu sharing awkward moments after they start dating. After getting home, Guy tells Ann about his new relationship. Ann tells him about the Chem-Re Party, where couples make their relationship official by wearing matching rings. The next day, Guy asks Liu if she wants to go to the party with him and wear those rings. But Liu says she can’t promise to go as she wants to speak to Faye first.
The next day, Liu pulls Faye aside to tell her about her and Guy. At first, Faye thinks she is joking, as Liu had left the university with Saint the day before. Liu explains she doesn’t have feelings for Saint, and it’s Guy she has liked for a long time. Faye, who also has feelings for Guy, had asked Liu’s help to win him over. She starts crying and almost hits Liu for doing this to her. But Faye eventually accepts after asking if Liu and Guy are happy together. After their talk, Liu tells Guy that Faye was mad at first, but she is now happy for them. However, Guy finds it hard to believe as Faye is calm, and he suspects she is up to something.
The episode then reveals Faye’s eating disorder as she forces herself to throw up after eating a cupcake during a livestream. Viewers are taken back to the time when Faye was in high school.

When Faye was still a teen, her face was covered with pimples, and her mother constantly forced her to throw up to get thinner. According to her, Faye wouldn’t be accepted unless she looked a certain way and spoke the words people wanted to hear. Not only that, her mother wanted Faye to excel academically, too, so that she’s both pretty and intelligent. Faye started to notice people treated her differently after she had gotten ‘prettier.’ Eventually, she was willing to hurt others to remain in the spotlight.
During the Chem-Re Party, Faye puts her plan into action to stop Liu and Guy from going public. She tampers with all the couples’ matching rings so they won’t light up during the party. Among those is Liu and Guy’s pair of rings, as they had planned to make their relationship official. However, during the party, only Guy’s ring glows while Liu’s ring malfunctions. Then, Faye walks in wearing a glowing matching ring like Guy’s and announces that the two are dating. Not only that, she tells Guy not to do anything if he wants to keep Liu safe.
Liu then confronts Faye about what she did during the party. Faye reveals that she doesn’t have any feelings for Guy. She drops the best friend act and tells Liu it is her she has a problem with. Faye says she only wanted to put Liu in the spotlight so people would dig into her past and leak her old photos. The whole time, she had planned to humiliate Liu. Furthermore, Faye tells Liu she can’t have Guy as she doesn’t deserve him. While Faye “worked hard” to look pretty, Liu used plastic surgery as a “shortcut.” The episode ends with Faye telling Liu that people will be on her side.
