Deadpool 3 or Deadpool & Wolverine is set to bring back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. However, fans are wondering how he is alive in the movie despite dying in Logan and whether he survived the events of that movie. Here is everything you need to know.
How is Wolverine alive in Deadpool 3?
Wolverine is alive in Deadpool 3, thanks to a device in the MCU that allows him to move around timelines and be alive in this movie while also staying dead in Logan.
In a December 2022 interview with SiriusXM, when asked about how Wolverine returns in Deadpool 3 despite his death in Logan, Hugh Jackman said that it all had to do with a device in the Marvel world that allowed people to move around timelines.
He said, “It’s all because of this device they have in the Marvel world of moving around timelines. Now we can go back because, you know, it’s ‘science.’ So, I don’t have to screw with the Logan timeline, which was important to me. And I think probably to the fans too.”
Before this, a hilarious explainer video was put out on September 28, 2022, just around the time Deadpool 3 was announced. In the video, Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ explanation for Wolverine’s survival in their upcoming movie was drowned out by the music of “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” by Wham!
It is important to note, however, that Deadpool 3 is a multiverse film, and with a multiverse film in the MCU comes variants of beloved characters such as Deadpool. As such, it is very likely that the Wolverine we see in the film is a variant from another timeline or is from an earlier period in the Fox X-Men universe before the events of Logan took place.
Did Wolverine survive at the end of Logan?

As fans know by now, Wolverine did not survive at the end of the movie as he was brutally killed by his deranged clone X-24 and died in the arms of X-23 (Laura).
However, fans can rest assured knowing that Logan’s gut-wrenching ending will not be ruined by Deadpool 3 as Jackman revealed in an interview with The Empire Film Podcast that the upcoming film will take place before Logan.
