There is no Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy Season 3 release date as the series was canceled at CNN after the second season.
In December 2022, news came out that CNN had decided not to renew Searching for Italy for a third season. Warner Bros. Discovery is the current parent company of CNN. The cancellation reportedly happened due to CNN’s decision to stop producing original content in collaboration with third parties as part of WBD’s cost cuts.
During his appearance at NBC’s Tonight Show that month, Tucci told host Jimmy Fallon, “Unfortunately, CNN has canceled all of their original programming, so hopefully we’ll end up on another streamer, network, we don’t know. But yes, I have plans to do season three and more.”
It seems that Tucci’s efforts to revive Searching for Italy were somewhat successful. The series will not return with a third season. However, several outlets reported in December 2023 that the veteran actor and food lover had inked a deal with National Geographic to develop and star in a new project about the European country. Titled Tucci – The Heart of Italy (alternatively, Tucci: The Heart of Italy), the series will follow Tucci as he delves into the cultures and cuisines of 10 different regions of Italy.
“National Geographic is all about adventure and exploration, and I am honored to take viewers once again to explore Italy through the lens of food,” Tucci said in a statement. “In Italy’s many distinct regions there is always something new to discover and I’m more than excited to begin the process in partnership with BBC Studios.”
The new project doesn’t yet have an exact release date, but the production reportedly begun in Italy 2024.
