What happened at the end of Invincible Season 2 Episode 5?
Invincible Season 2 Episode 5 ended with The Guardians stuck in a space battle against Martian Sequids. Meanwhile, Allen gets ready to return to Earth for Invincible.
Episode 5, titled “This Must Come As A Shock” picks up right where episode 4 left things on Thraxa. After recovering, Mark returns home with his half-baby brother and is stuck in a dilemma to decide the next step. He considers dropping a year of college to take care of the purple boy.
Meanwhile, Donald finds out about his Cyborg body, and Atom Eve deals with an existential crisis. But as the end approaches, Earth is threatened with yet another planet-wide attack. This time, it comes from Martian Sequids. Shapesmith reveals his Martian origins and what could have happened to the real astronaut, Rus Livingston, who was left back on Mars.
Rus became the host to a Sequid hivemind and made his way to Earth to find billions of new hosts. So, all the Guardians with superhuman strength whose skin cannot be penetrated by the Sequids take the fight to them. They are joined by Atom Eve and Robot, who also deploy countermeasures against the Sequids.
On Earth, King Lizard seizes the opportunity as his Lizard League takes over a nuclear base. The leftover Guardians including Rex, Kate, and Rae are sent to stop them. But among the three, only Rex is left standing, but not for long as King Lizard points a gun to his head.
Up in space, viewers are left with another cliffhanger as the Guardians are surrounded by the Sequids and have nowhere left to go. But a mid-credits scene takes us elsewhere, revealing that Allen of Unopa has fully recovered. After his battle against the Viltrumites, he woke up and found himself in top shape. The rebel Viltrumite Thaedus meets him, only to send him back to Earth to get Invincible.
Now, the next episode would reveal whether Rex Splode would manage to survive against King Lizard, and how Invincible’s crew would pull Rus Livingston out of the Sequids’ control. It might also unite Allen and Invincible, to take him on a journey to Viltrum.
Who dies in Invincible Season 2 Episode 5?
Invincible Season 2 Episode 5 sees the deaths of 2 heroes, Dupli-Kate and Shrinking Rae, along with 3 members of the Lizard League.
The Lizard League proves to be too much for Rex, Dupli-Kate, and Shrinking Rae to handle. As the three take on Iguana, Komodo Dragon, and Salamander, Komodo Dragon brutally murders Dupli-Kate and her clones. Following that, Rae replies by shrinking and expanding to burst Salamander’s brain from within. She tries the same move on Komodo Dragon, but he eats her whole.
Lastly, Rex kills Iguana and explodes Komodo Dragon’s head, but gets his hand ripped off before that. His fate still hangs in the balance with King Lizard about to shoot him down.
