In a surprising turn of events, the supernatural horror-thriller Shaitaan experienced a significant slump at the box office on its fifth day of release. It is witnessing a sharp decline in its revenue.
The Bollywood movie initially stormed the box office with promising numbers but faced a considerable setback on March 12. The business is plunging further on Tuesday, indicating a challenging phase after its stellar opening.
The movie stars prominent actors like R Madhavan, Jyothika, Janki Bodiwala, Anngad Raaj, and Ajay Devgn. Their presence is expected to bolster its performance at the box office.
Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan earns $8 million on day 5
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Shaitaan raked in approximately $8.60 million on its fifth day. This marked a notable decrease in its earnings from previous days.
The film, helmed by director Vikas Bahl, had made an impressive approximately $19.31 million on the day of its release. This figure seemed promising for its theatrical run. However, the downward trend started to manifest itself soon after, with Monday’s collections dropping to approximately $9.71 million, as film trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported.
The movie’s overall performance during its five-day theater run amounted to approximately $13.33 million, which fell short of expectations despite its initial success. In a social media post, Taran Adarsh had earlier predicted that Shaitaan was eyeing approximately $17.92 million in its first week. However, the recent decline in numbers has cast doubt on achieving this milestone.
Sumit Kadel, another film trade analyst, acknowledged the importance of Monday’s collections, referring to it as a “make-or-break” day for the movie. While Shaitaan managed to hold steady, the subsequent decline in revenue suggests a challenging road ahead for the film.
Shaitaan recorded an overall 13.38% Hindi occupancy on Day 5, with Mumbai leading the pack, followed by Delhi.
The total net box office collection in India now stands at approximately $91.42 million, while it managed to mint around $20.36 million in the overseas market. Hence, the worldwide box office collection of the movie stands at approximately $110.78 million.
Despite the initial hype and opening solid weekend, Shaitaan now faces the challenge of sustaining its momentum amidst the declining numbers. Whether the movie can bounce back from this setback and achieve its projected targets remains to be seen as it progresses through its theatrical run.
