Last year, Prabhas starred in one of the most awaited films, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire. The movie was deemed as the actor’s comeback, following the criticism his previous films had faced. While the movie was a smash hit and minted millions, a few distributors still faced losses. However, the film producers are not letting the distributors bear the brunt and are now allegedly compensating them.
The cast and crew of the film include Prashanth Neel, known for creating the KGF film franchise. Apart from Prabhas, the movie features Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Sriya Reddy, and others. Salaar follows the story of two childhood friends who become fierce enemies as they grow up.
Hombale Films bankrolled the movie on a hefty budget, and the same is expected for Salaar 2.
Distributors who faced losses for Salaar to be reimbursed by producers?
Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire was released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. It has also been released in English on Netflix. Although the movie outdid its competitors at the box office and earned a whopping amount, a few distributors in Andhra Pradesh faced losses.
According to OTTplay, the movie recovered most of its money except for a few areas. Mythri Movie Makers released the film in Nizam and earned a handsome profit. However, this was not the case for a few other distributors, and the makers are now reportedly returning the losses they faced.
It is important to note that the distributors never approached Salaar producers for reimbursement. The makers themselves took the step to compensate for the losses the distributors suffered. It is indeed a generous step taken by the producers.
Currently, the Prabhas-starrer is thriving on OTT platforms and garnering millions of views. It was also a hit in the US and brought good profits for the distributors. Reportedly, the movie made approx $9 million at the US box office.
