According to Deadline, Kick-Ass’ Chloë Grace Moretz and Top Gun: Maverick’s Lewis Pullman have signed on for the leading roles in the upcoming heist movie titled Dutch & Razzlekhan, based on the true story of a young couple who stole $4 billion worth of cryptocurrency.
In addition, Oscar winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) has also been cast in an undisclosed role. Production is expected to begin sometime this summer.
What is Dutch & Razzlekhan about?
“The film will tell the explosive and unbelievably true story of the most expensive heist in history, with Heather “Razzlekhan” Morgan (Moretz) and Ilya “Dutch” Lichtenstein (Pullman) — lovers, hipsters, and aspiring rapper-entrepreneurs — at its center,” reads the initial logline. “After stealing over $4 billion worth of cryptocurrency, the millennial couple was caught by the Department of Justice and charged with conspiracy to launder the stolen bitcoin in February 2022.”
Based on Rob Price and Becky Peterson’s 2022 Business Insider article “The $4.5 Billion Question,” Dutch & Razzlekhan will be directed by Jon S. Baird from a screenplay written by Logan Miller and Noah Millar. It is produced by Andrew Lazar for Mad Chance.
Prior to Dutch & Razzlekhan, other studios have also decided to produce their own adaptation of Morgan and Lichtenstein’s heist story. Hulu is currently developing a limited drama series Razzlekhan: The Infamous Crocodile of Wall Street, with Lily Collins attached to lead. Meanwhile, Amazon MGM has also recently announced the development of a Razzlekhan movie.
