On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, VIZ Media, amongst a couple of other announcements through its official X account, announced that the media company will release Kagurabachi manga in print. Along with Takeru Hokazono’s Kagurabachi, VIZ will publish the SPY x FAMILY: The Official Coloring Book. VIZ Media will launch both of these anticipated media prints in the fall of 2024.
Kagurabachi: Everything you need to know about the manga
Kagurabachi is a revenge-themed manga that began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, on September 17, 2023. The title was published under Shueisha’s NEXTWAVE project. Other than Kagurabachi, the project includes titles such as Two on Ice by Elck Itsumo.
VIZ Media and Shueisha’s Manga Plus hold the license to publish the manga in English. However, the English publication has been restricted to digital media even though it is globally reproduced.
Describing the manga, Manga Plus writes, “Young Chihiro spends his days training under his famous swordsmith father. One day he hopes to become a great sword-maker himself. The goofy father and the serious son–they thought these days would last forever. But suddenly, tragedy strikes. A dark day soaked in blood. Chihiro and his blade now live only for revenge. Epic sword battle action!”
It was recently on February 2, 2024, that Shueisha published the manga’s first tankōbon volume. However, since its debut, the manga managed to become a viral sensation. Overtaking grand titles, including SPY x FAMILY, Dragon Ball Super, and Boruto, Kagurabachi jumped up various scales on Manga Plus’s popularity ranking list. So much so that the famous My Hero Academia’s mangaka, Kōhei Horikoshi, recommended the manga series.
Now, with the manga’s first volume getting printed internationally, the wave of popularity for the manga will expectedly increase, considering that a wider range of audience will be able to access it.
