February is indeed a good month for Malayalam cinema, with several movie releases. Actors Biju Menon and Shine Tom Chacko’s Thundu hit theaters on February 16, 2024. The Malayalam cop entertainer is receiving mixed reviews from critics and viewers. Following the film’s release, details about its digital rights have also been revealed.
Thundu is a cop entertainer with drama and comedy. Riyas Shereef has marked his directing debut with the film, while Ashiq Usman and Jimshi Khalid have bankrolled it under Ashiq Usman Productions. Rafi, Unnimaya Prasad, Zhinz Shan, Shaju Sreedhar, and Noushad Ali played supporting roles in the film.
Thundu to arrive on Netflix post theatrical run?
According to a report by OTTplay, Thundu is set to stream on Netflix after its theatrical run. However, the date of its digital debut has not been revealed yet. Most Malayalam movies arrive on OTT platforms four weeks after their exclusive release in the theaters. If the makers of Thundu follow the same pattern, it might be available to stream by mid-March. But an official announcement about the same is still awaited. Biju Menon is no stranger to the streaming giant, as his Oru Thekkan Thallu Case is also on the platform.
Thundu is competing with some star-studded films at the box office. Tovino Thomas’ Anweshippin Kandethum, Girish AD’s romantic comedy Premalu, and Mammootty’s Bramayugam are also in the theaters.
Thundu follows the story of a cop, played by Biju Menon, who decides to turn his life upside down by appearing for a head constable examination. He aims to escape his financial issues and the lack of respect he receives in his current position with the examination. However, when he struggles during the exam, he resorts to malpractices and uses chits to clear it. How he strives to pass the examination makes the movie’s plot.
