Smile 2 has added two more names to its growing cast with the announcement of Raúl Castillo & Miles Gutierrez-Riley joining the sequel to the surprise horror hit at Paramount.
Castillo was recently starring opposite Gael Garia Bernal in the wrestling drama Cassandro, while Gutierrez-Riley stars in prime Video’s The Wilds, and has a role in the upcoming WandaVision spinoff Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.
In recent months, Smile 2’s cast has seen the addition of Naomi Scott, Lukas Gage, Kyle Gallner, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Dylan Gelula. The original film’s director and writer, Parker Finn, is returning for the sequel.
The sequel’s plot is still unknown, but given Kyle Gallner is returning from the first film, it seems there will be a narrative connection between the two.
The first Smile movie had originally been destined for streaming, but Paramount took early interest on board and released it in theaters where it made an impressive $217 million worldwide. The film was Parker Finn’s directorial debut.
In Smile, Dr. Rose Cotter witnesses a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient who starts experiencing frightening occurrences that she can’t explain. As an overwhelming terror begins taking over her life, Rose must confront her troubling past to survive and escape her horrifying new reality.
Smile 2 is set to be released in theaters on October 18, 2024.
