The Pokémon franchise has left an indelible mark on fans over the years. With its influence on popular culture, the series has become a global phenomenon. The diverse range of anime television adaptations, movies, video games, and more testify to its impact. For years, Netflix has remained a hub for the Pokémon series. However, two of the Pokémon series are now leaving Netflix US ahead of season 26’s release.
The two series include Pokémon Journeys, which is season 23, and Pokémon: Master Journeys, which is the title for season 24 in the Pokémon franchise. While the former encompasses 48 episodes, the latter consists of 42 episodes.
Netflix US has recently announced that the last day to watch the aforementioned seasons will be March 4, 2024. As such, viewers won’t be able to see the two series from March 5, 2024, onwards.
Everything we know about the Pokémon series’ departure from Netflix
Apart from seasons 23 and 24, Netflix will continue to keep the Pokémon series on its platform. Moreover, Pokémon season 26, titled Horizons, will premiere in March 2024 on Netflix US.
The streaming platform removed several titles from the Pokémon series in 2022. Furthermore, it has confirmed the removal of two other titles later in 2024, which will probably happen in September. These include Pokémon: Ultimate Journeys and Pokémon: To Be A Pokémon Master.
Netflix confirms that, in the subsequent years, many Pokémon titles will part ways with the platform. However, the positive news is that fans can continue watching these shows until they leave the platform. Users have also been alerted of the same in advance.
With this unfortunate news comes the speculation within the fandom that the Pokémon franchise will move to a streaming service of its own. Though no such news has been officially announced, fans look forward to Pokémon Day on February 27, 2024, in anticipation of this potential announcement.
