William Shatner will be the subject of a new documentary that is going to be released across North America on March 22, 2024. Titled William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill, this project will showcase the illustrious life and career of the legendary actor. Shatner’s career in showbiz has spanned over 70 years. However, he is best known for his portrayal of James T. Kirk in the Star Trek franchise.
Legion M, the world’s first fan-owned entertainment company, is responsible for the distribution of the aforementioned project. Furthermore, Vortex Media, the holder of its Canadian rights will release the film simultaneously in the North American Country.
According to People Magazine, William Shatner has been married four times. His first wife was Gloria Rand, to whom he was married from 1956 until their divorce in 1969. He then married Marcy Lafferty in 1973 but the couple went their separate ways in December 1996. Shatner’s third wife was Nerine Kidd, whom he married in 1997. Unfortunately, she died in 1999. His fourth and last wife was Elizabeth Anderson Martin, to whom he was married from 2001 to 2020.
According to the official trailer of William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill, the synopsis of the upcoming documentary reads, “Directed by the visionary filmmaker Alexandre O. Philippe (78/52: Hitchcock’s Shower Scene, Memory: The Origins of Alien), William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill is an intimate exploration of the life and career of William Shatner.”
It further reads, “From his unforgettable portrayal of Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek to his diverse accomplishments of a 70+ year career across film, television, and the arts. The documentary captures the essence of Shatner’s journey and his extraordinary contributions to the entertainment industry.”

According to People Magazine, William Shatner has three children. Furthermore, they are all with his first wife, Gloria Rand.
His first daughter, Leslie Carol Shatner was born on Aug. 31, 1958. She is currently 65 years old. His second daughter, Lisabeth Shatner, who is currently 62 years old was born on June 6, 1961. In a 2002 interview with Woosh, she revealed that his father’s popularity did not come in her way of having a normal childhood. She stated, “Growing up with my dad seemed normal to me. When I was really young, I didn’t realize he worked at something different than most dads did.”
William Shatner’s third daughter, Melanie Shatner, was born on August 1, 1964. In 1999, she married actor Joel Gretsch, with whom she has two children.
In a 2014 interview with the Guardian, Shatner said that he believed that as a father, he was well involved in his daughter’s lives. He stated, “I must have been a hands-on dad because that’s what my children [Leslie, Lisabeth and Melanie] tell me. In my mind, I was gone a lot of the time in an effort to make a living, so I am gratified that my kids think that they are who they are today because of my influence on them and my sense of being there for them – although it was only at weekends.”
He further said, “But the fact that I was there for them they tell me was important – and they have turned out to be three of the greatest mothers. But I’m always worried about whether I’ve done a good job as a parent. ”
William Shatner is a three-time Saturn Award winner and a two-time Emmy Award winner. Furthermore, in 2005, he won the Golden Globe Award.
