What Was Travis Rudolph Charged With?

The upcoming episode of Taking the Stand on A&E will delve into the case against former American footballer Travis Rudolph. According to CNN, back in 2021, Travis faced one count of first-degree premeditated murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder. However, a Palm Beach County jury recently found him not guilty.

The American footballer stated that his action (shooting) was an act of self-defense. After the verdict, he was released from house arrest. In a conversation with WPBF, Rudolph said, “I’m definitely going to celebrate with my family. Get back to trying to play football.”

In addition, his attorney Marc Shiner stated, “Travis has been falsely accused from day one and the truth came out. Travis is a special human being, and we wish him all the success in the world as he starts his newfound freedom.”

According to A&E, the official synopsis of the upcoming Taking the Stand episode titled, Travis Rudolph reads, “An argument between former NFL player Travis Rudolph and his ex-girlfriend escalates into a gunfight with her brother and his friends.”

It further reads,

“Rudolph will take the stand to claim he had no choice but to open fire 39 times to defend himself. Will a jury believe he was justified or decide he went too far?”

It will air on Thursday, January 25, at 9 p.m. ET on A&E.

Which teams have Travis Rudolph played for?

Travis Rudolph represented Florida State in college. However, he has spent his professional career in the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins. Regarding the case against him, Marc Freeman, a spokesman for Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg stated that prosecutors respect the jury’s decision.

He said, “Although we may disagree with the jury’s verdict, it is their job to determine from the facts whether a defendant is guilty or not guilty. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families in this case.”

Travis Rudolph is currently 28 years old. His cousin is former NFL wide receiver and return specialist, Devin Hester.
