Audiences who have missed the theatrical experience of films are now eagerly waiting for the OTT release of the same. OTT platform allows the audience to undergo cinematic action, story, and drama from the home comfort. So, we have compiled a list of popular and upcoming Telugu movies that are set for theatrical release in the upcoming months and have their digital rights sold to Netflix.
The list includes Devara: Part 1, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, Guntur Kaaram, Pushpa 2: The Rule & more.
Devara: Part 1
Devara: Part 1 is the upcoming most awaited Telugu film, featuring N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Saif Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor in the centric role. The film is scheduled for the big screens on April 5, 2024, in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Ahead of its theatrical release, Netflix through its Twitter account confirmed that Devara is coming soon on Netflix.
The platform further confirmed that it will be streaming after the post-theatrical release and will be available in multiple languages. As per BookMyShow, currently, 53.1K audience show their interest in the movie.
Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire (Hindi OTT release)
After having a gigantic run at the box office, Salaar Part 1 has already made its digital debut in four languages on January 20, 2024. The film is currently streaming on Netflix in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages, along with English subtitles.
However, regarding the Hindi OTT release, reports from the multiplex association confirmed that a mandatory rule of eight weeks between theatrical release and OTT release might be the potential reason for this delay. So if reports come to fruition, then fans just have to wait for a few more weeks for the Hindi version of the film on Netflix.
Directed by Prashant Neel, the film features Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Shruti Haasan in the centric roles. Meanwhile, with a runtime of 2 hours and 55 minutes, Salaar has received a rating of 6.6/10 on IMDb.
Guntur Kaaram OTT release on Netflix
The latest Sankranti release Guntur Kaaram features Mahesh Babu in the lead role, directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The film was released hit big screens on January 12, 2024. However, as per the latest reports from OTTplay, the movie is expected to be available for streaming on Netflix.
Additionally, reports disclose the tentative date for streaming between February 9 to 16 February. The movie has received a rating of 7.8/10 on IMDb with a runtime of 2 hours and 39 minutes.
Tillu Square
Siddhu Jonnalagadda & Anupama Parameswaran Tillu Square will be also another addition to the Telugu OTT collection of Netflix. The movie is set to hit theaters on February 9, 2024, with a mix combination of action, comedy, and romance. Tillu Square will revolve around the life of DJ Tillu (Siddhu) and how his life turns into a sort of nightmare when his love interest Radhika (Anupama) murders her fiance.
Directed by Mallik Ram, the film’s digital rights are already sold to Netflix which makes the digital media company the exclusive platform for Tillu Square’s OTT release.
Gangs of Godavari
Gangs of Godavari is an upcoming raw rustic action thriller mass movie whose OTT rights are already sold to Netflix. The film will comprise the cast of Vishwak Sen along with Neha Shetty, Anjali, Nassar, etc.
So if you are a raw rustic action lover, then surely this needs to be on your watchlist of Netflix. Gangs of Godavari will initiate its theatrical run on March 8, 2024, and currently has no confirmation regarding its arrival on Netflix.
Pushpa 2: The Rule
Fans of the Pushpa franchise are eagerly waiting for the release of Pushpa 2: The Rule, scheduled for August 15, 2024. The makers of the film have been able to generate substantial buzz among the audience through the glimpse of Puspha 2: The Rule.
The OTT platform Netflix itself confirmed that Pushpa 2 will be coming soon on the platform in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
The film will feature, Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, Vijay Sethupathi, and Sai Pallavi among others. Besides this, as per BookMyShow, 156k audience have shown their interest in Pushpa Part 2.
