Kazuchika Okada is reportedly bidding farewell to New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). The former five-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion’s contract expires on January 31, 2024. The announcement, revealed via NJPW’s official website, states Okada’s contract will expire by the end of the month. However, he is slated to make three additional appearances in February.
The statement apologizes for the abrupt news and extends wishes to Okada, stating, “Kazuchika Okada will be leaving New Japan Pro-Wrestling after the conclusion of his contract on January 31 2024…We apologise to fans for the abrupt nature of this announcement, but join them in wishing Okada the very best in his future…”
It continues, “As the New Beginning series begins this weekend, Okada will appear on February dates on February 11 in Osaka, and February 23 and 24 in Sapporo. Changes will be made to forthcoming cards with an announcement to follow…We appreciate your understanding and continued support.”
In response, Kazuchika Okada also expressed deep gratitude in a statement. He thanked NJPW, opponents, and fans, promising to bring the thunder in every upcoming match.
